Dungannon Kitchen Project Commences

A £230,000 project to fit new kitchens to 50 Housing Executive properties in Dungannon has commenced.

The work will be carried out on homes in Springfield Crescent and Bernagh Drive areas of the town.

District Manager John McCartan said: "We are carrying out work to provide new kitchens to houses, bungalows and flats that will suit the needs of modern day living and we are also upgrading the electrical wiring system in the kitchen.

"Work to the properties will include full kitchen replacement and will in some cases involve minor structural work to improve kitchen layouts as well as upgrading electrical wiring in the kitchen and fitting smoke alarms and heat detectors."


Staff in the local office have involved residents from the outset discussing the proposals with them and giving everyone involved an opportunity to choose from a selection of kitchen finishes and colours.

"This contract demonstrates the Housing Executive's commitment to tenants living in Dungannon," said Mr McCartan.

"Schemes of this nature are an important element of the Housing Executive's objective to improve living conditions for its tenants, and, I am confident that this work will make a difference for these tenants in Dungannon."

The work is to be carried out by Bann Limited, the Housing Executive's Egan Contractor for this type of scheme and is due to last until the end of the 2009.
