£500k Kitchen Improvements For Strabane Tenants

A half a million pound upgrade programme has kicked off in Strabane, aimed at improving kitchen facilities for social housing tenants.

One hundred and twenty-three homes in the Carlton drive area are set to benefit from the scheme, which will see modern kitchens installed.

Residents will be able to select their units and worktops from a range of finishes.

Electrical and plumbing installations are also being upgraded to make sure that there are dedicated sockets for washing machines, tumble dryers or dishwashers.


Electrically wired smoke alarms and heat detectors are being installed in those homes which currently do not have this facility.

District Manager Seamus Kelly said: "Maintaining our properties in good condition is one of our main priorities and we are delighted that this kitchen replacement scheme is now underway.

"Extensive consultations have been carried out with the tenants prior to the work starting in their homes and the scheme is progressing very well," he said.

Tenant Liaison Officer with PK Murphy, Seana Hippsley, said she is extremely impressed with the co-operation that they are getting from the tenants in Carlton Drive.

"It is a pleasure to carry out the consultation with the tenants in the estate and they are so appreciative of the work that we are doing in their homes," she added.
