£890k Investment In Scrabo Kitchens

The Housing Executive has 'cooked-up' some good news for tenants living in Newtownards' Scrabo Estate.

One hundred and forty-seven homes are to have their kitchens up-graded in a scheme worth around £890,000.

District Manager Owen Brady said: "I am delighted that we are able to proceed with this work which will see over £890,000 invested in much need kitchen improvements in the Scrabo estate.


"As well as providing tenants with new modern kitchen facilities, we are also rewiring the homes and installing mains-powered smoke detectors to homes where these have not already been fitted."

Mr Brady said NIHE would be providing a day-time decanting facility for tenants while work is carried out to their homes.

Davy McAlonan from the Scrabo Residents Association welcomed the start of the scheme.

He said: "Residents were consulted during the planning of the scheme and had the opportunity to choose their own kitchen units. We feel sure the residents will be delighted with their new kitchens when the scheme is complete."
