Crane Successfully Removed From Gorey Site

A 24-metre crane, which has been an imposing feature over the Gorey skyline for almost a year, was successfully moved off-site earlier this week.

Main Street traffic in the Wexford town was sealed off on Monday night to allow the structure to vacate the area.

Mythen Construction said it was delighted to announce traffic had flowed well close to the site, while work was undertaken.


A system of temporary traffic lights was put in place to manage traffic.

The crane was installed above Jack D's bar in April last year.

Maurice Mythen of Mythen Construction confirmed that the crane is already back in use above the Wexford County Council pool where it will be in operation for the next ten to eleven months.

According to reports, Monday's site action attracted the attention of a number of passers-by.

The northbound lane of the street was sealed off from 6pm and reopened at 1.45am.

Mythen Construction has confirmed works will last for approximately five more weeks at the popular Gorey pub.
