Construction News Image
Ballinruan Community Centre, near Crusheen has been awarded €690.20 under the Government's Scheme of Community Support for Older People.

The centre was among fifty-one organisations nationally to receive grants under the scheme, which is administered by local community and voluntary groups and is funded by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

The allocation follows less than a week after Kilkee Community Alert was allocated €2,245 under the same scheme.

Welcoming the news, Clare TD Tony Killeen said: "The scheme aims to improve the security of older members of the community. Funding is available towards the once-off cost of installing socially monitored alarm systems and small items of physical security such as security lighting, smoke alarms, door chains, and window and door locks."
