KOBW Architects Announce Three New Director Appointments

Leading architectural practice, KOBW, has announced the appointment of three new directors as it continues its expansion.

The Cork-based practice has been in existence for almost 50 years and now employs 29 people.

Four new associate directors have also been appointed in a move to ensure clients get maximum service. The new directors are: Architects, Hugh Thompson and Izabella Sikora, with Accountant, Patsy Daly as Finance Director.

“As we expand, it is important that we put the structures in place, to ensure that our clients receive an enhanced service,” said KOBW Managing Director, Joseph O’Brien. “Clients are now looking for a broad range of senior skills both at home and internationally and I’m delighted to welcome our three new directors on board.

“This is an exciting time for architecture and development in Ireland. Our Practice has been around for almost 50 years. We’ve been here through the good times and the bad. Today the environment for innovation is the best it has ever been.

“The fusion of ideas and cultures is providing an exciting climate for architecture in Ireland. The challenge is to take those new ideas and place them in the context of our unique landscape,” he said.

“Our new team of directors will ensure our clients are equipped with the best team of highly-skilled people to bring their projects to fruition in Ireland and abroad.”

KOBW architects are based in Blackpool Retail Park, part of the Shipton Group’s Blackpool Park, an urban redevelopment project, which incorporates a shopping centre, cinema, offices and retail warehousing and car parking, with a total area of 700,000sqft, all designed by the practice.

The practice has worked on other many significant private and public sector projects including the Tipperary Institute in Thurles, the University of Limerick, Waterford County Civic Offices and the new Cork Airport.

The five new associate directors are: Eimear O’Riordan, Francesca Nobili, Caroline Gordon, Paddy Ashman and Thierry Paret.
