Resurfacing Commences On Forthriver Road

Construction News Image
Resurfacing works worth £330,000 have now commenced at the Forthriver Road in Belfast.

The investment was made as part of the carriageway and footway resurfacing scheme which extends from 150m in advance of the junction of Forthriver Way to 150m beyond the junction of Forthriver Crescent.

"This substantial investment of £330,000 for North Belfast will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users who travel through this area and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network and creating further opportunities for active travel, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities," said Department for Infrastructure Minister, John O'Dowd.

"I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

Lane closures will be implement initially, before a full road closure will follow as carriageway works commence in order to facilitate the works.

Full details of closures will be displayed in advance but the majority of the scheme will be completed during the hours of 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

The Department for Infrastructure has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, while road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity, while complying with all temporary traffic restrictions.

Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by Friday 20 December 2024, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
