The Chief Executive, Richard Shakespeare, has made the decision following a review of a number of documents submitted to the Council by various parties.
On 25 August, traffic management measures will be introduced on the north quays at Bachelors Walk and on the south quays at Burgh Quay and Aston Quay. These changes will involve updates to road markings and signage. All other routes on the quays and throughout the city will remain unchanged, and access to all Liffey Bridges from north to south and south to north will continue as before.

The hours of operation for these new restrictions will be 7am to 7pm Monday to Sunday. Outside these hours the restrictions will not be in operation and all vehicles can travel as before.
There are no changes to disabled bays, loading bays or taxi ranks. The vast majority of routes to hospitals will remain the same, as will the majority of routes to city centre car parks. Access for residents will be maintained although there may be a different route to or from the area.
A working group, chaired by Lord Mayor James Geoghegan, will be established to assess the impact of the changes outlined in the transport plan. This group will include representatives from business organisations, the NTA, elected officials and other stakeholders, including members of the disability community.
These traffic management measures aim to support the policies and objectives of the Dublin City Development Plan 2022–2028. They are designed to address the issue that 60 per cent of general traffic in the city centre is merely passing through rather than stopping, working or shopping.
