Ward and Burke Construction Ltd has been appointed by Uisce Éireann to replace water mains in Ardfert, County Kerry.
Works are set to begin in the coming days and will be completed by late March.
The works will take place along Station Road, from Ardfert Central National School and will continue onto the R551 and end just after Ardfert Community Centre.
Works will also take place along The Square, ending at the T-junction facing Ardfert Cathedral.
Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Jack Cronin said: "This is another significant investment in improving the water supply for the people of Ardfert. This section of water main that we are replacing has burst several times recently, so we are delighted to progress these upgrades for the local community, providing them with a more reliable water supply.
"We would like to thank customers in advance for their cooperation and patience while we complete this important project."
During 2023, Uisce Éireann constructed seven kilometres of new water mains and completed significant upgrades to the local pump station to connect Ardfert Water Supply Scheme to the Central Regional Water Supply Scheme.
Tubrid Reservoir has also been approved for an investment of over €2 million to secure the water supply for customers for years to come. Planning Permission was granted for the reservoir last November and detailed design is on-going with construction due to commence in late 2024/early 2025.
