Construction News Image
A new Garda Station has opened at Dublin Port which will provide purpose built accommodation for the Garda Immigration Unit for DMR North Central.

Minister for Justice Helen McEntee opened the new facility which will allow An Garda Síochána (AGS) to expand on their immigration and policing services in the area.

Minister McEntee said: "I am delighted to open this station which will ensure An Garda Síochána have the calibre of facility they need to maintain professional policing services at Dublin Port for years to come.

"Ensuring the continued, effective, security of the State from an immigration perspective is not an easy task.

"This upgraded station will further enable Garda members to respond to the challenges faced in policing Ireland’s borders.

"It will also allow for increased efforts in combatting human trafficking, drug smuggling and other serious offences, and help us build stronger, safer communities.

"I look forward to seeing An Garda Síochána continuing their diligent and tireless policing efforts from this new accommodation."

The new station which is located in the former Calor Gas office building was designed by the Office of Public Works (OPW) and was delivered by Garda Estate Management. The project centred on the Government's commitment to advance sustainable solutions that mitigate against climate change. Upon completion, the building obtained a B1 BER energy rating.

This new building provides additional facilities which were not featured in the original Immigration structure such as a public office and a number of consultation/interview rooms.
