Ward and Burke Construction Ltd has been appointed to replace two kilometres of aged water mains in Fenit, County Kerry.
The construction works are due to begin this week and will be completed in early 2024.
The section of works will take place along Talaught Lane, from the T-junction at the Lighthouse Village and will end at the T-junction ntering onto Churchill.
Uisce Éireann has partnered with Kerry County Council to improve the water supply and reduce disruption caused by bursts and leaks.
Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Jack Cronin said: "The section of water main that we are replacing has burst several times recently, so we are delighted to progress these upgrades for the local community, providing them with a more reliable water supply. To deliver the works safely and efficiently, a road closure will be in place until Friday 22 December. Taulaght Lane will be closed from the T-junction at the Lighthouse Village until the T-junction entering onto Churchill. Local diversions will be sign-posted during this time through Churchill and will continue onto the R558 towards Fenit.
"These works are part of a significant investment programme by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network in Kerry, prioritising investment where it is needed most and enabling these communities to thrive. We would like to thank customers in advance for their cooperation and patience while we complete these essential works."
Uisce Éireann has said that the works may involve some short-term water interruptions and the project team will give customers 48 hours notice prior to any planned disruption.
