Crews On Site To Restore Lauragh Water Supply

Crews have worked overnight to restore normal water supply in Lauragh, Co Kerry.

Irish Water and Kerry County Council collaborated to address the issues caused by a burst water main yesterday, Monday 12 December.

Due to a noticeable increase in demand, over-night restrictions were also required to help water levels in the Kenmare town area recover. Thiswas necessary to maintain supply for homes and businesses during the day. The water supply was restricted to some areas overnight from 10pm on Monday 12 December, until early this morning, 13 December. During this time, customers in Kenmare town experienced reduced water pressure and/or no water. It can take two to three hours following a restriction for the network to refill and normal supply to be fully restored to all areas


Speaking about the restriction, Oliver Harney, Irish Water said: "Irish Water understands the inconvenience this overnight restriction may cause, however, it is essential to ensure a sufficient water supply is available for residents and businesses during the day for hygiene and other essential purposes.

"We are appealing to customers to continue with every effort to conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Further information is available on our water conservation section."
