A park in South Dublin has been significantly improved with the creation of a new Pavilion.

Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Peter Kavanagh visited Dodder Valley Park in Old Bawn to perform the official opening of the Pavilion on Monday, 18 October.

The event saw local councillors, Mr Daniel McLoughlin, Chief Executive, Ms Teresa Walsh, Director of Services, staff of South Dublin County Council, and guests turn out to mark the occasion.

Speaking at the opening, Mayor Cllr Peter Kavanagh said: "The provision of changing rooms and storage facilities at this location is in line with South Dublin County Council's aim to support and promote the health and wellbeing of the people of South Dublin County. The delivery of this new building will support the development of Dodder Valley and allow recreational facilities to progress further within this well-used park."

The pavilion was constructed by J. S Dooley Ltd. and consists of four changing rooms, a referee room and a storage room. To facilitate the usage of the new pavilion a bespoke user-friendly Booking System that integrates with the building access system has been developed by South Dublin County Council in conjunction with Sportkey. This new innovative system will allow the Council to manage and monitor facilities effectively, while making the booking process seamless, easy to use, and accessible for all who wish to play sport at Dodder Valley Park.
