New Park Opens In Co Armagh

The new Kingston Memorial Play Park has officially opened in Co Armagh following a significant investment.

Approximately £100,000 was invested to build the new facility as part of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council's £4.75m Play Strategy 2018-2026.

Farrans served as the lead contractor on the project, with sub-contractor Garden Escapes, a specialist playground equipment company, supplying and installing the new equipment.

An event was held to mark the opening, with local school children from The Drelincourt School and Armstrong Primary School invited along to experience the new park.

Speaking as he officially opened the new park, Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Alderman Glenn Barr said: "What another great opening for another wonderful play park – even the little bit of rain couldn't dampen our spirits!

"We know just how important the investment in this play park is and that the community will take full advantage of it by getting outside and enjoying some play in the fresh air."

Eileen Trew, Principal at The Drelincourt School, added: "Our little children watched the park being redeveloped every day and could hardly wait until we were able to take them. Many of the children go every day after school with their families, and they were very excited to attend the ceremony.

"It was also the same day that we marked World Mental Health Day, so it was very fitting to celebrate the wonderful play park facilities which bring such mental health benefit to our young children."
