CITB NI Launches £1.7M Training Grants Scheme

Construction News Image
A new £1.7 million grant scheme has been launched to support construction training in Northern Ireland.

The CITB NI training grants scheme supports a wide range of training and qualifications for their employees working in NI.

Charlene Meek from local construction company Corramore, said: "The CITBNI Grant Scheme is a great way to encourage employers to invest in their employees whilst also fulfilling their legal obligations. There is a shortage of skills in Northern Ireland and by utilising the scheme, employers can be assured that their staff are continuing with skills development and they get the added bonus of getting a grant for it. The grants can help smaller businesses who may not have a great cash flow, so by putting employees through training they not only meet their legal obligations but also get something back in the process."

Barry Neilson, Chief Executive, CITB NI added: "Training delivers results, and more construction employers are embracing and valuing training for their workforce. It is incredible that throughout a global pandemic our industry continued to upskill and train to prepare for future projects.

"Our Grant scheme is widely recognised within the industry and we want to continue to provide financial support for employers of all sizes towards the training and qualification of their people. We have a major focus on apprentices and want to help employers realise the importance of apprenticeships and their value to the overall future of the industry. The training grant funds are easy to claim, with employers encouraged to claim online via the website as it is easy, quick and efficient."

CITB NI has produced a series of videos to highlight the training grant scheme, its benefits and how easy it is to claim.
