The Department for Infrastructure is leading a £375,000 scheme which will see the road resurfaced from Creevytenant Road to Carricknaveagh Road in a northerly direction for 2.1 kilometres.
Work will begin on Thursday 30 September and is expected to be fully complete by Friday 22 October. During these dates weekday road closures will be in place between 9am and 4pm to facilitate the scheme. A full road closure will also be implemented on Saturday 02 October from 7am until Sunday 03 October at 6pm.

A diversionary route will be in place using the A21 Ballynahinch Road/A21 Saintfield Road and the B6 Saintfield Road/B6 Lisburn Road and vice versa. Local access for residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Commenting on the upcoming scheme, Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said: "This significant investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of local residents and those using this transport corridor. I would like to thank the public and local residents in advance for their cooperation and ask that they comply with all temporary traffic restrictions while these much needed works are completed."
