Farrans Construction Replaces Old Cast Watermain In Galway

Farran's Construction has completed work to replace an old cast iron watermain in Mervue, Galway.

The watermain frequently burst and caused disruptions to water supply.

The Mervue works were along St James Road from Bayview Heights to Quinn Terrace and will ensure customers in this area enjoy an improved water supply with less disruption.


The work was carried out on behalf of Irish Water.

Dave Murphy from Irish Water said: "Irish Water would like to thank the residents in the Mervue area who were impacted by the works but who will also benefit from them in the long term for giving us the necessary consents to carry out this essential project.

"This mains replacement work is part of a significant investment by Irish Water to upgrade the water network across Galway City. The works involved some short-term water shut-offs and traffic management measures which we understand were inconvenient and we would like to thank the local community for their patience while we completed the job."
