A state-of-the-art tennis dome facility in Lisburn's Wallace Park has been successfully restored after suffering severe damaged from Storm Ali in September 2018.
The Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) facility was taken down due to the damage last year.
The Wallace Park Tennis Dome was then officially reopened over the weekend, Saturday 06 April, at the Mayor's Carnival Parade and Family Fun Day.
Alderman Paul Porter, Chairman of the council's Leisure & Community Development Committee, said: "We're delighted to be reinstating the Wallace Park Tennis Dome, which has proven extremely popular with residents and visitors. There has always been a huge interest in tennis in Lisburn and this centrally located facility, with its three self-contained courts, will complement the wide range of sporting options already available in the city.
"We're working with Tennis Fundamentals to put together a number of open days to relaunch the dome and encourage players, both seasoned and new, back to Wallace Park to enjoy the sport. The dome is a fantastic opportunity for players to continue their training throughout the year and we anticipate a huge amount of interest in the facility."
Since its introduction in 2012, the dome has attracted elite tennis players, including the Ulster Tennis Squad, as well as a number of competitive and social players.
A new programme of events has now been scheduled for the facility to help celebrate its reinstatement.
Wallace Park Tennis Dome is now open Monday to Thursday from 10am to 10pm, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.
