New Wastewater Treatment Plant Planned For Burtonport

A new wastewater treatment plant has been proposed in Burtonport as part Irish Water's Burtonport Sewerage Scheme.

The scheme also involves the installation of new pipes and a pumping station in the area.

It aims to help end the discharge of untreated wastewater into Rutland Sound.

The new wastewater treatment plant will bring benefits to Burtonport in terms of health, integrity of the environment and improved water quality for all. Cleaner water will enhance Burtonport's amenity value and act as a platform for social and economic development.

An information event is to be held on the scheme next month, 10 September.

The exhibition, taking place from 5.30 - 7.30pm at St Columba's Community Centre, Lackenagh, Burtonport, will showcase the plans for the scheme to the public.
