The Government is being urged to push ahead with the N11/N25 Oilgate to Rosslare Harbour project.
Fianna Fáil Cllr Lisa McDonald confirmed Wexford County Council has made an application to the National Roads Authority for funding to progress to design stage, however the Government has failed to deliver on the funding.
She said: "We need to see further progress on the N11 / N25 Oilgate to Rosslare Harbour project. There is a plan to build a new motorway that continues the Enniscorthy bypass to the N25 near Wexford town. This project also includes a new section of the N25 linking up with Rosslare Harbour. The completion of this project would ensure that there is no single carriageway remaining on the N11. This would have a massive positive impact for Wexford.
"The N11 / N25 upgrade project has been stuck in limbo as the project cannot progress to the next stage without funding being allocated by the NRA. I am calling on the Government to ensure that this funding is delivered without any unnecessary delay. We need to know for certain that this project will get the go ahead.
"I believe this infrastructure project is of national importance considering its impact on Rosslare Harbour. Brexit is only around the corner and the Government has been warned that Rosslare Harbour is vital in ensuring Ireland remains connected to our European partners. Everything must be done to protect and enhance the services offered by Rosslare Harbour."
