Cork Council Urged To Rejuvenate Noel Cantwell Walk

Fianna Gael is calling for the Noel Cantwell Walk area in Cork to be rejuvenated as it has been neglected for a long time and is in a run down state.

Cork South Central Senator Jerry Buttimer confirmed that he will be writing to the council urge them to clean it up.

He said: "On a recent visit to the Noel Cantwell Walk in the Mardyke, I was disappointed to see the run down state it was in. Noel Cantwell was one of the great Cork sports people and this walk way has served as a tribute to his achievements since it opened in 2015. To see it now in such a run down and neglected condition is a massive shame.


"The potential of this amenity is not being realised fully. To help rejuvenate the area I am proposing that City Council along with consultation with interested local groups paint the walls of the walk, that are currently covered with graffiti, with a mural of great Cork sports people from down through the years.

"We in Cork have so many sporting heroes who have inspired us down through the years. I would be a fitting reminder of our sporting glory days, and would also generate tourism."
