The 48-acre package includes 33 acres of amenity lands which can be used for sporting purposes, playing fields, walking and running tracks and also an indoor centre which will serve the whole community.
Fianna Fáil TD James Lawless welcomed the announcement.
Mr Lawless said: "As Mayor of the Naas Council District during the local area plan process, along with colleagues from all parties, I impressed upon the council executive the dire need for such facilities in Sallins. Since my election to the Dáil I continued to make that case to Planning Minister, Simon Coveney T.D. including dedicated meetings in government buildings and questions in the Dáil as well as remaining in ongoing discussion with County Manager Peter Carey and Heads of Planning and Parks in Council. I want to thank them all for taking the case very much on board and for working with me and all the stakeholders to achieve this.

It certainly strengthened my hand at the table to have such a demonstrable level of engagement from the local community."
