EPS Group is to deliver a €8.4 million water supply upgrade project for Irish Water in Co Leitrim.

The North Leitrim Regional Water Supply Scheme is part of Irish Water's €530m investment to improve the country's water and wastewater infrastructure.

Work will include upgrading Moneyduff Water Treatment Plant, decommissioning Kiltyclogher and Rossinver Water Treatment Plants, extending the distribution network to these areas and the construction of a new pumping station at Cooladonnell.

Following the completion of the design phase, construction work will begin in December. The project is due to be completed in one year.

Irish Water Asset Management Lead, David McLoone, said: "The upgrade works at the Moneyduff Water Treatment Plant will increase the design output of the plant by over 50%, as well as works at Lough Gill to facilitate the required water abstraction.

"In addition, the network extension to Rossinver and Kiltyclogher commenced on site during the summer which sees the lying of 11km of water mains and the construction of a new pumping station at Cooladonnell to pump the water across to Kiltyclogher.

"This extension of the network will allow for the decommissioning of two water treatment plants at Rossinver and Kiltyclogher once connected to the North Leitrim Regional Water Supply Scheme and more crucially will address the current boil water notice affecting approximately 300 people in Kiltyclogher."
