Departments Save On Electricity Costs In Energia Deal

Government Departments, public sector bodies and 3rd Level Institutions are saving on their electricity costs having moved to independent energy provider Energia.

Energia continues to win public tenders to supply metered electricity to Central Government Offices and non-commercial public bodies.

Under the terms of the tender win, Energia expects to supply over 180 gigawatt hours of electricity per year to power Central Government offices and non-commercial public bodies. The value of the contract which ranges from one to three years is estimated to be in the region of €25 million.


The supply deal covers a number of Government Departments, 3rd Level Institutions and public sector bodies such as Failte Ireland, Road Safety Authority, Shannon Developments, the Revenue Commissioners, and the Office of Public Works in Farmleigh.

Energia was also recently awarded the contract to supply all unmetered electricity to all the County Councils and many local authorities in Ireland.
