Minister Describes H&W Venture As 'World Class'

East Belfast DUP MLA and member of the Assembly's Enterprise, Trade and Investment Committee Robin Newton has described the building of a 1,500 tonne platform for the off shore wind industry by Harland & Wolff as gold medal type engineering.

Robin Newton said: "This latest H&W venture is a piece of world class engineering and firmly sets the company at the leading edge of hi-tech manufacturing technology.

"This project represents another stage in the recovery of the company. It is fitting in this significant year in the company’s history that this leading edge renewable energy substation is launched on its journey to Liverpool.

"There can be no doubts this is the type of work that will secure the future for H&W and the workforce. The building of this type of vessel is a tribute to the management and the employees and places the company once again in the world market as engineering technologists."
