It's six of the best and counting for County Tyrone-based modular construction specialists, the McAvoy Group as it has just been awarded a lucrative series of school contracts in the City of London.
The projects, which range from extension works to the provision of completely new premises, have a combined value of more than £5m and mark the latest phase in a concerted export drive into the English marketplace by McAvoy.
The contracts, all successfully tendered for under the GPS Framework, will provide much needed state-of-the-art classroom provision plus ancillary accommodation in the London Boroughs of Enfield, Waltham Forest, Merton and Barnet as well as an extension to a Victorian School in Kensington and additional accommodation for schools in Essex and Bristol.
Two of the contracts are in the Borough of Merton, at the Poplar Primary School and Garfield Primary School, where both schools will benefit from the provision of single storey two classroom buildings plus ancillary accommodation, foundations and enabling works.
The Enfield scheme comprises, the design, construction and installation of a 489m2 modular school building at Worcester School while at the Gwyn Jones Primary School in the Borough of Waltham Forest, the provision is for a Special Education Needs' (SEN) single storey extension comprising four new classrooms, with designated toilets and storage facilities and a new central administration block.
McAvoy will also provide a single storey modular classroom building and ancillary accommodation, foundations and enabling works at Blessed Dominic Primary School in the London Borough of Barnet.
Meanwhile in Kensington, the McAvoy team has been engaged by main contractors, Morgan Sindall, to deliver a 740 square metre split level hub which will connect two existing buildings comprising a mix of accommodation within the Victorian School.
In addition McAvoy has won two further contracts in England - one at Endeavour School, Brentwood for Essex County Council comprising four Classrooms, Group Room, Life Skills Kitchenette, SEN Office, Toilets, Store and Cloaks Area as well as siteworks and landscaping and the other in Bristol, at the Hannah More School where a double storey modular structure with three new classes on each floor is being provided.
As modular construction specialists the majority of the work will be carried out off-site at McAvoy's premises in Dungannon and Lisburn.
