Storm Sewer Improvement Work Planned For Dundonald

NI Water have announced that it will be commencing construction work on an essential storm sewer improvement scheme for the Millreagh Housing Development on the Carrowreagh Road, Dundonald.

Work is scheduled to get underway on Monday 28th May and will last approximately six months.

Approximately £600,000 will be invested in the scheme, which will improve the sewerage infrastructure for the Millreagh development and reduce the risk of flooding from the Enler River.

The majority of the work on the storm tank will take place on the grass area adjacent to the Ballybeen Housing Estate. There will also be extensive pipelaying work across the main carriageway on the Upper Newtownards Road, specifically along the junction between the Carrowreagh Road and Upper Newtownards Road. There may be increased traffic in the area but no road closures should be required during the scheme.

The Contractor for this project is Graham Construction, who have extensive experience in this type of Storm Sewer Improvement Work throughout Northern Ireland.

A new modular storage tank, which is a sustainable urban drainage system will be used to construct the storm tank. This is the first time this technology has been used by NI Water, which will result in a more efficient, environmentally friendly process. This process will also speed up the construction of the storm tank when compared with more traditional concrete materials.

As with all work of this nature, there will be an element of disruption, and NI Water and its contractor Graham Construction, would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation, and assure them that we will do everything we can to complete this essential improvement work as quickly as possible.
