SIPTU Manufacturing Division Executive Praises Vita Cortex Workers

The Executive Committee of the SIPTU Manufacturing Division has congratulated the Vita Cortex workers, their families and supporters on securing a satisfactory outcome to the long running dispute at the company’s plant on the Kinsale Road in Cork.

Following a meeting of the Executive Committee in Derry, the SIPTU Manufacturing Division President, Noel Finn, said: "The satisfactory conclusion of the Vita Cortex dispute comes as a result of the great resolution and determination shown on the part of the 23 workers involved. These workers have shown themselves to be a great example of what trade unionism is really about. Our thanks goes also to the SIPTU officials who worked hard to achieve this positive result and to the people of Cork, and further afield, who displayed unstinting solidarity with our members in Vita Cortex."


SIPTU Manufacturing Division Organiser, Gerry McCormack, said: "The ending of the sit-in at the Vita Cortex plant is very welcome to the workers and their families. SIPTU expects that all the payments from the company to the workers will be completed before the end of this week. This will allow the workers to return to their families and get on with the rest of their lives."
