Byrne Welcomes Promise To The People Of Slane

Fianna Fáil Senator for East Meath has welcomed confirmation from Minister for Transport, Leo Varadkar TD that if approval from Bord Pleanála is received then funds will be made available for the purchase of land for the N2 / Slane Bypass.

Senator Byrne was commenting following receipt of communication from Minister Varadkar's office regarding this important piece of infrastructure.


"This is brilliant news for the people of Slane and surrounding areas who have been waiting a long time to see progress on this important project," said Senator Byrne.

"I will be holding Minister Varadkar and other Government TD's them to their word with regard to this project as it is clear that lives will be saved if this bypass is built," added Senator Byrne.

"This promise to the people of Slane must not be reneged upon. It is written in black and white and cannot be ignored."
