Limerick Civic Centre Plans Opposed

Although detail plans were approved by Limerick Council to Croom Community Development Association earlier this month for the construction of a new two-storey 625 square metres Civic Centre at St Mary's Park, Croom, Co Limerick, a third party appeal has now been submitted against the decision to An Bord Pleanala.

The proposed centre is to incorporate community facilities (including 180 seat function room, 48 seat tea room, adult education centre, library, tourism/information point) and ancillary services, with adjoining single-storey storage/changing rooms and a detached single-storey service block to the side.


According to the website www.unearthore.com the plans also include ramped and stepped pedestrian access to the Civic Centre to be provided from Main Street and public car park and car park levels.

The development is to also include alterations to the existing park entrance to create vehicular access to a new 70-space car park with associated siteworks/landscaping including a new playground and overall upgrade of the existing riverside public open space.

The case is due to be decided by July 28 and is awaited by the Project Team, that includes RHM Architecture, Landscape Architect, MJ Hallinan Ltd and the promoter Croom Community Development Association.
