Irish Architecture In World Awards

A firm of architects, dhbarchitects, is about to compete in the final stages of the World Building Awards 2010.

It takes place in Barcelona on November 3 to 5 with their work on the Waterford Health Park taking centre stage.

The awards are part of the World Architecture Festival (WAF), an annual ceremony that gathers together leading architects to celebrate excellence in building design and development.


It is expected to attract more than 2,000 delegates from 80 countries and given the scale of the competition with more than 500 entrants, it is said to be already a considerable achievement for Waterford's dhbarchitects to be short listed to the final stages.

The awards also provide a unique opportunity to showcase a Waterford building to a world class audience and dhbarchitects will present their entry live to delegates attending the festival and to a jury of over 60 internationally acclaimed judges.

The building, Waterford Health Park falls into the health buildings category with additional categories for sports buildings, museums, schools, commercial building and residential houses.
