Construction Firms Set Their Course

CITB-ConstructionSkills Northern Ireland and the Construction Employers Federation (CEF) have held the first workshop in a programme to help local construction firms steer a safe course through the current economic storm.

The two organisations are working together to fund and deliver a Business Improvement Programme. The programme consists of seven specially developed courses and consultancy to help struggling construction companies survive the recession and plan for recovery. Employers registered with CITB can avail of discounts of up to 98%


John Armstrong, CEF Managing Director said: "The local construction industry has been severely affected by the recession and has experienced an unprecedented fall in workload. We have arranged this Business Improvement Programme in order to help construction companies to find ways to protect and develop their businesses and sustain employment."

The workshop provided tips on increasing their chances of prequalifying for tenders anywhere in the UK or abroad.

The programme, Setting Direction in Challenging Times, starts on 26 October 2010. It supports senior managers in developing their companies' capability to identify and exploit future business opportunities. The programme also includes foundation courses in sustainable construction, improving business performance, winning work overseas and environmental management.
