Antrim Planning 'Child's Play'

Local children and young people have been enlisted to help draw-up plans for Antrim's latest play facility.

The borough council encouraged eventual users to set-out want they want from the new developments at Muckamore and Stiles Way.

In an unprecedented move for Northern Ireland, pupils from nursery, primary and secondary schools, as well as the Antrim branch of the Northern Ireland Youth Council, had the opportunity to have their say on the types of play equipment, layout, colour, surface and proposed sports/activities for the multi-use games area.


Representatives from the schools and the Youth Council were then invited to Antrim Forum to present their ideas to Deputy Mayor of Antrim, Alan Lawther, the architect and the project team from Antrim Borough Council.

Deputy Mayor Lawther said his colleagues were delighted with the feedback received.

"These new play areas will provide a safe, secure environment for our young people to come together and enjoy taking part in sport and physical activity," he said.

"So, it was important they had their say. I would like to thank all those who took part in the consultations."
