Coatings Firm Moves To New Base

An Ulster provider of aluminium and steel coatings has moved to larger premises in Co Down.

Advanced Industrial Coatings (AIC) Ltd said its decision to relocate was prompted by continued growth in its architectural powder finishes sector.

The new four acre greenfield site on the Hillsborough Road outside Comber has been designed specifically for the firm, Managing Director Roy Webb said

"This is a real milestone in the firm’s history. These new premises will allow for significant increases in capacity and capability," he said.


"New facilities include an oven system which will allow us to paint specialised bespoke items, significantly increasing the range of work we can carry out. We intend to further develop the site with an additional 25,000 sq ft being fully operational in 2010."

Following a management buy-out by Mr Webb in 2008, the firm has enjoyed continuous growth and has recently been appointed for major projects.

These have included London Underground; Lansdowne Road Stadium; the Ulster Hospital; Metal Technology’s new premises in Antrim; as well as the new showroom of Bowman Windows, Obel and The Boat.

IGP has recently appointed AIC as the only approved applicator in Ireland for its priming system for mild steel.
